Trip to Sardis

Annie has decided to give me another crack at the ole blog and since my law practice is failing I thought I would try a little satire...or at least spice this thing up:

G V and the biggest pimp in the world, Nick Snapka got to hang out at Sardis recently. He loved hanging out with "Uncle Cha Chi" and we're not sure who was posing for the camera more...Cha Chi had recently been told he should try out for the G Q magazine cover so he was posin real hard. For those of you that don't know...Cha Chi has a special place in our family because he almost seriously dated my sister in law, but after 28.5 hours things took a turn for the worse and the Bourbon got everyone off track.

Anyway...back to Sardis. Annie needed some time to work on her paper and suggested some serious father-son time ( yes 3 intensive classes in 6 weeks with a cumaltive GPA of 4.0! You go girl!) so G's IV & V, Judge and a cooler full of juice juice, apples and PB&J's (yes, it will "change your life") jumped in Pop's old Z71 and headed to Z beach to meet up with Cha Chi and 300 undergrads having a tribal kegger. G V had a great time at our old college stomping grounds. He played in the water, threw the ball for all the dogs and got to ride the "wheeler...vroom vrrooom." (which short of "i love you" and "big truck" is the coolest thing to hear him say. ) Nothing melt's a father's heart like hearing his boy say little boy words.
Much like Ringo's return to Liverpool in 1964, we got swarmed by a bunch of drunk chicks....Chi O's (imagine that) wanting to hold The Boy....who had just left their shirtless, beer bong guzlin, kenney chesney blarin, meat head boy friends to check out G V in his Masters polo and camoflauge Ole Miss hat (you can't deny class). Even daddy knew and had come to grips with the fact that they weren't huddling around me like Jevon Snead because off my good looks. But the fratastic "cool and tough" crowd couldn't figure out why some old dude was hanging there and they started to get restless in that Johnny vs. Daniel Laruso kind of way...they didn't appreciate the cute dog/cuter baby boy props and a couple of them tried to pay us to leave...I just wanted to show the boy how much fun can be had with a tennis ball, the beach,, and best dog in the planet...we weren't trying to steal all their sorostitutes....I guess they don't realize that in the Spring of 1998 I owned that Beach....for a day....too bad, so sad.

G V got to ride on the back of T's bike in Greenwood and it became his favorite pastime. Whenever he is ready he puts his helmut on a says, "Bike, Bike" Its adorable. Yes, that's Pop in the background with his shirt off...he had just got done trying out for Men's Health (Senior's Edition) "Home Gyms for Home Boys." Nancy is still pouting since her dad will be the first Powers to be featured in a magazine... too bad, so sad.

Stay tuned for some pictures of Mom and some normal commentary as Annie has two weeks off until Fall semester and will have a little more time on her hands.

Relaxing Weekend

George is learning how to post on our blog since I am such a slacker at it. Thanks George!

I feel like we have been on the road or with planned activities for the last few weekends. We finally had time to just take it easy without any set schedule. Saturday morning Bradley invited George Stouton to go for a ride on his grandad's horse and carriage. He got see horses, donkeys, rabbits, a huge snake and some cows. Once he settled down in the carriage he had a good time.

Later that afternoon we went to one of my friend's farm in Calhoun County. We got to ride the 4 wheeler and judge got to chase ducks and geese around the lake. We decided to spend the night at their cabin overlooking one of the ponds and woke up to a beautiful sunrise. We had a nice breakfast outdoors and it definitely set the tone for future discussions about country living and the "simple life." Before we left, G-V got to see Canada geese, Coco Puffs the Pony, a bunch of mallard ducks a/k/a quack quacks, and more horses and cows. We left to try to make it back to church, but had a blowout in my new wagon (couldn't quite do the minivan thing yet) and we had to pullover unload all our gear and change the tire.

G V and Bradley took turns filling up the fertilizer spreader with rocks and pushing it around.
They got to play on the lawnmower and they both love big tractors.
